Ladies Scratch League

Our last Scratch League match of the year was played in glorious sunshine at the beautiful Stratford-on-Avon golf club.  We went out knowing that we needed to secure a win in order to be sure of staying in Division 2.  We already knew that The Worcestershire had won all of their matches, and will be promoted, but the results between the rest of the clubs in the division were very close.

Heading out first, Kathryn Day secured a hard fought half, followed by Team Captain Sue Pearse also battling to the last green, but losing 1 down.  Fortunately the remaining three players, Jayne Fitzpatrick, Trish Grant and Caroline Walker all came in with wins, Trish by a notable 6&5 margin, meaning the team won by 3.5 matches to 1.5 and will stay in Division 2 for next year.  Looking at the results so far, we will be joined by Coventry GC who will be relegated from Division 1, we will lose Stratford-on-Avon who will be relegated to Division 3, but we do not yet know who will be promoted from Division 3 to join us, as there are a few matches still to be played with no clear leader as yet.
